An experienced corporate sustainability and environmental communication consultant, Ioana is a good listener, that also knows how to ask the right questions in order to identify your needs. A genuine advocate for sustainable business and environmentally friendly living, Ioana succeeds in inspiring people, but also in building long-term relationships with the organizations and businesses she works with.
Ioana has a bachelor’s degree in communication and public relations from the University of Bucharest and a master’s degree in sustainable development from the University of Exeter. She also has training in areas such as non-financial reporting, circular economy and sustainability strategies and the management of Green Office programmes.
Ioana made the first steps in her career as a student, by joining the association PRIME Romania in 2003. During the 4 years she spent in the association, she was involved in the development of communication & public relations events and conferences, but also in fundraising and management-related activities.
In 2007, after graduation, Ioana joined WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Romania where she spent 6 years. In her first years in the organization she was involved in communications and contributed to the development of the fundraising and corporate partnership infrastructure of WWF in Romania. And in the last three years in the NGO she worked entirely on developing partnerships with the business sector and tools that could help companies become more sustainable (e.g. Retailer Scorecard). She also coordinated partnerships with companies such as Lafarge, Garanti Bank, Orange, Ursus Breweries, WNS etc.
Having spent her childhood close to nature, Ioana has a strong connection with the natural world and enjoys long walks in the forest and through mountain villages, watching a river flow or looking for signs of wildlife in the city. She also likes riding her bike, playing different sports and leisure sailing.
