With 15 years experience in the nature conservation and environmental field, Cristian is the kind of person that looks at things strategically and from a ‘big picture’ point of you. He also challenges ‘business-as-usual’ practices and comes with innovative and systemic solutions for complex problems. If you also add his unique sense of humor, working with him is a pleasant experience both for clients and colleagues.
Since November 2017, Cristian is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner. The certification was offered by the Society for Ecological Restoration as a recognition of meeting the high standard and knowledge in this field.
Cristian holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, a master’s degree in landscape ecology and a PhD in river ecology from the University of Bucharest.
In 2001, he started working for the Centre for Environmental Research and Assessment of the University of Bucharest. During the five years spent there as a researcher and project coordinator, he gained a lot of experience in biodiversity conservation and river and wetland ecology.
In 2006, he embarked on a new challenge and started working for the Romanian Ministry of Environment, where he contributed for one year to the preparation of the first Romanian Environmental Operational Programme for nature protection.
Driven by his personal aim to work on wetland and river restoration, in April 2007 he joined WWF Romania. In the last 8 years he has contributed with his expertise and knowledge to the development and implementation of nature conservation, ecological restoration and protected areas management initiatives across the Danube basin.
Cristian is also a founding member of several environmental NGOs in Romania and a proud member of the Kinship Conservation Fellows initiative. He enjoys spending time in nature and is also a passionate sailor and skipper, dreaming that one day he will sail around the world.
